SMART Gold Kits Set the Standard For Nanoparticle Characterization

Dune SmartGrids nanogold SMART Gold Kits are designed to give you access to accurate metrology, material characterization and instrument calibration. Alternatively, deposition of your sample on top of the SMART Gold allows you use the gold nanoparticles as an internal size reference. SMART Gold Kits are available as prepared grids or as kits containing containing NIST traceable gold nanoparticles and functionalized SMART Grids, enabling you to prepare your own SMART Gold samples. The surface functionality of the SMART Grid allows for the preparation of EM samples with evenly dispersed nanoparticles over the entire surface. Routine sample preparation enables standardization of the process so that experiments can be performed repeatedly. Due to their superior performance, these grids were used exclusively in ASTM ILS 166.

The following gold nanoparticle types are available:

NIST Standard Reference Materials: Available in NIST traceable 10, 30 and 60 nm nanoparticle diameters. The RM materials5 can be used in development and evaluation of in vitro assays designed to assess the biological response of nanomaterials and for use in interlaboratory test comparisons.

VariGold Nanoparticles: These gold nanoparticles are synthesized by Dune Sciences. The particles range in diameter from 0.8-32 nm with shapes from spheres, rods and prisms. These evenly dispersed particles can be used to evaluate imaging performance and perform instrument calibrations.

Each kit comes with our standard 100 x 100 um SMART Grids. Please contact us for other options.

Prepared Grids - 60 nm NIST SRM

Two SMART Grids (50 x 50 um windows) pre-loaded with 60 nm NIST gold nanoparticles. The nanoparticles are NIST traceable. These SGGs can be used to characterize microscope performance (HRSEM, Low Voltage STEM, S/TEM, FIB, AFM) and to quickly validate magnification calibration.

VariGold Prepared Grid

Two SMART Grids pre-loaded with gold nanoparticles. The nanoparticles range from 0.8-32 nm, with varying morphology (spherical, rod and prism). These grids can be used to demonstrate the characterization of gold nanoparticles using TEM, AFM, or SEM.

The RM may also be useful in the development and evaluation of in vitro assays designed to assess the biological response (e.g., cytotoxity, hemolysis) of nanomaterials, and for use in interlaboratory test comparisons.)
